Waikelo Sawah, Sumber Mata Air yang Tak Pernah Kering di Sumba
Waikelo Sawah terletak di Desa Tema Tana, Kecamatan Wewewa Timur, Kabupaten Sumba Barat Daya, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Dibangun pada 1976, Waikelo Sawah ini dirancang untuk tujuan irigasi dan pembangkit listrik. Pengadaan pembangkit listrik itu pun menjadi Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air (PLTA) pertama di Sumba ketika itu.

So, the scenery between the waterfall and the rice fields in front of it was kind of divided by the man made structure of the irrigation system.

Another Instagram-worthy destination in Sumba is Waikelo Sawah, or the "Tree of Life". If you enter "Bendungan Waikelo Sawah" on your GPS, you will be guided to a dam nestled in rice paddies. When we arrived, a local took us on a nice walk through the rice fields until we reached the falls. We then had the place entirely to ourselves.

ya.. waikelo sawah.. sebuah air terjun kecil yang keluar dari sebuah gua.. yang alirannya berasal dari sungai bawah tanah. bening dan sejuk airnya.. mungkin dulunya digunakan untuk pembangkit listrik, karena terdapat tulisan PLTM Waikelo sawah di dinding dan sebuah rumah kecil yang sudah rusak dengan mesin di dalamnya.
